Came across this on the AV Forums. Can't vouch for its accuracy but sounds plausible:

Points are gained from each time you play a Grade Tournament:

First Place: 4 Points.
Second Place: 3 Points.
Top 20% Place: 2 Points.
So when you gain a certain amount of points you will be promoted:

G2 Promotion: 8 Points or above.
G1 Promotion: 20 Points or above.
G0 Promotion: 30 Points or above.

Basically you’ll still be promoted without winning at all… this will balance out the numbers in the grades as you will not be required to win to stay in your grade… but demotion is still around of course:

G3 Demotion: During G2 within 20 rounds you have gained 0 points.
G2 Demotion: During G1 within 30 rounds you have gained 2 points or less.
G1 Demotion: During G0 within 40 rounds you have gained 2 points or less.

Woo only 4 points until G1 then!!!

It might also take into consideration the number of Games Played. I have seen a few G2's with more than 30 points

I think it's probably 20 points gained in G2 since last time you were promoted/demoted, so there may be a bunch of people who've got results from other ranks that show up in their records, or last time they were in that rank.

So once you get into G1, you need another 30 points to get to G0.

I've seen a guy with a purple name in the lobby, I assume this is because he's G0, I don't see any G0 events, what happens when you get to this point ? Do you just play GF's and if you don't get a podium place in 40 of those you get bumped back down to G1 ? Or do these guys have a new lobby and a whole new set of events or something ?

OK, spoke to a guy called TRZ tonight and he was quite addamant that the rules are like this...

With relation to being in G2, In each set of 20 tournaments you have to get 20 points to get promoted.
When that set are over you're records effectively reset and you start again, so tournaments 1-20 are one set, then 21-40 another and so on. It doesn't count your last 20, like say you've done your 35th tournament and you've made 20 points since your 16th tournament, it doesn't matter, the points you need to gain have to be from the 21st - 40th.

Like TRZ said, there's no tracking of the points you've got in your current set so you've got to keep track of them yourself, if you want to know such a thing. The only display you get is your total wins/seconds/thirds in a certain rank regardless of when they came.

He's played over 200 tournaments so I'm inclined to think he's right.

arrold absolutely right mate and g1 works the same way it is run in blocks of 30 it is 30 points in 30 games to get promoted to g0 if you dont attain this u have to start again with next 30 games and to stop being demoted you need to attain 10% of points in relation to amount of games in a block so to stay g1 you need 3 pts in 30 and to stay g0 you need 4 points in each 40 as it is 40 game blocks g2 is 20 games so 2 points to keep g2 status

if you take a look at my stats you will see i have nearly or just over 200 g1 points ( only took 1 block to get promoted after giving misses own account )
