Three modes are available to play, traditional 8 ball and 9 ball games, along with the signature mode of Inferno Pool. The Inferno mode is a multi-player game where potting a ball gives you the chance to send a ball to a competitors table. You win by clearing your table, or having the fewest balls remaining at the end of a pre-determined time. Online and offline supports up to 4 players depending on the mode selected.

Keyop says:Points are awarded in games for various types of trick shots including bank shots, kick shots, combos and jump shots. The physics in the game seem to be very accurate and with the ability to add all different types of spin and cue angles, you can fairly well replicate any shot that you could in the real world. Three levels of aim help are available, which show a decreasing length of your balls expected path depending on the level you choose. The pockets on the table are a little over-sized, but this adds to the enjoyment of the game, as you don’t feel like you need to be some kind of hustler in order to make a shot. In that respect the balance seems just right.

Graphically, the game is pin sharp to look at and runs at a sublime 60fps making it enjoyable to watch as well as play.

The online invite system seem to be having a few problems depending on your router/firewall setup, with invites not being able to be accepted properly. However, with a little timing you and your friend can quite easily get a match together. Ranked matches against random opponents work well with nice quick game joins.

Once you have played a ranked match, your name will be added to the online ranked scoreboards where you can view your ranking and game stats.

During online games you can also use your comms. I have to say, the comms in the game are probably the best I have heard in any online game to date, crystal clear in their quality.

Inferno Pool is great PSN title and comes well recommended for it’s £6.29 price tag.

Hypercollider says:My copy of “WSC real 09″ has been gathering dust since I got this little gem. Once you are in a room it’s a great social game and the online comms clarity is better than a telephone call. Like ZEN Pinball, it’s a great game to fire up for a quick session, but I’ve also found myself head-to-head offline against the hard setting for hours. I has that “just one more” quality. I haven’t mastered advanced shots, but it’s still possible to clear the table with some basic cue ball control and some thought.
